I miss you

Lately, I have been thinking a lot about my late cousin, Minnie. She was filled with so much joy that it would overflow to people around her, even if it was in a bad situation. She always put a smile on people's faces and cheering them up. I guess that's why God took her, because he needed another angel, which was exactly what Minnie was. One memory I have of her, that I will never forget, was the last time I spent with her. Minnie, Lois, and I spent the night at my grandmother's house. At night, we were pretty bored so we sneaked out to take a walk. We decided to walk to the end of the airport. After reaching our destination, we went by the school to hang out. We were by the 8th grade building when a group of boys on BMX bikes rode by. The last guy, Atuuk, had a huge mountain bike though. He had a huge smile on his face, which amused us because he was the only boy smiling. A minute later, we heard a clanking noise. That's when Atuuk was walking back holding the broken bike. We couldn't stop laughing about that, too. That night was filled with laughter! It was getting late. But throughout the night we would say, "we'll go back at 3:30, 4:00, 4:30, 5:00" and so on. At about 7:00am, we finally went back to our grandmother's house. We were kind of scared of going inside because we knew Jeffrey was awake. So we waited in the porch for a little, thinking of an excuse. That's when we heard the creaking floor. We heard the footsteps approaching the front door. We decided to hide in the bathroom, which is located in the porch. Jeffrey's came out and asked, "who's in there?" Then, being the sisters they are, Lois and Minnie were pointing at each other, mouthing "you!" Then when Jeff asked again, they both said at the same time, "me!" Minnie and Lois then looked at each other meanly because they just blew our cover. I was giggling to myself because it was hilarious. Jeff just laughed and went back inside. So we stayed in the porch, not knowing what to do. Jeffrey came back to the porch and asked us where we were. We didn't say anything because sneaking out felt like such a crime. Minnie just gave him that cute kid look. You know, that look a kid would give their parents when they're in trouble, trying to ease their way out of the situation. Well, that's the look Minnie gave. It worked too, because Jeff didn't do anything. He just told us not to go out so late. We went inside and went to bed right away. The next morning, they were going back to Akiak. Minnie tried to wake me up to say goodbye. I was half awake and half asleep but didn't get up. Minnie just hugged me and gave me a kiss on the cheek and said, "bye, Anguu...I'll miss you." And that's the last time I seen her. But she's where she's meant to be, in Heaven. Walking the streets of gold, living in a mansion, free of sadness and pain. What a lucky girl. I love and miss you, Minnie!

Juneau Trip

Just recently, I went on a school trip called Close-Up where we meet the government of Alaska. My brother Dennis, Maggie, and I were the students that were lucky enough to get chosen to go. We experienced many firsts on this trip. We went rock climbing which was scary because I am deeply afraid of heights. I got the guts to reach the top because Denny was in charge of "blaring" me. Being the "blare" means that you hold the rope that is hooked on the climber and you are in charge of holding them and reeling them down. I trusted Denny so I was able to actually rock climb. We also went snowboarding, another first, and Denny learned right away. I spent the whole time there being instructed and taught how to use a snowboard. I didn't get to go down the actual hill. Dennis learned in less than 5 minutes and was racing down the hill in no time. I have to admit that I was envious of his skills but I was also proud that he got to experience it. When our time was up for snowboarding, Denny didn't want to leave. On our way back to the city, he mentioned that we should move there one day. If we didn't move there he said that we better travel there as much as we can. I guessed that he fell in love with snowboarding right then and there. On another night, we Contra Danced. It is an interesting way of dance. It is similar to Fiddling but has more action and more smiles (i'd think so because I hadn't been fiddling before). We participated and had loads of fun.
We got to sit in meetings that were held by the Committee, Senators, and Legislators of Alaska. It was pretty boring at times; i fell asleep at one of them. One thing I noticed at one of the meetings was that native people are very impatient. We'd spent many hours at that meeting. I was observing people and seen that the natives were sitting in their seats moving around, looking annoyed/mad, and sleeping. The kassaqs were very alert and asking questions like crazy. I found this kind of funny because the topic was very uninteresting.
We stayed in a hostel which is different from a hotel because it is more home-like. We had to clean up after ourselves and were assigned chores before bedtime. In our room, we had four bunks. My roommates were Marlene, Maggie, Alicia, Madison, and Alexis. Marlene and Alexis are from Napakiak. Alicia is from Kokhonak. Madison is from Chignik Bay. Madison and Alicia were probably the youngest in the group but the tallest/hugest of us all. What do they feed these people?!
They were an amusing group of people. You could probably hear us laughing from the living room. Many times, there would be a chaperone coming into the room and telling us to quiet down (even after lights out). I was glad that I got a chance to meet these people. One of the girls were born when their mother was 14-years-old. They lived in a tent for about a year because her grandmother was drinking at that time. I respected her mother at that moment even if I don't know her. To this day, I think that her mother is filled with bravery. I mean, she was 14-years-old, a newby mother to a newborn child, and living in a tent despite the cold weather Alaska holds! I still cannot believe that she could go through that. The age 14 is like 5 years younger than me right now. And I still don't know how to make a decent meal that doesn't come with instructions!
We also got to go into the Governor's mansion which was beautiful. I wanted to live in there the instant I went inside.
Altogether, this trip was amazing. Juneau is a beautiful city and I would love to live there one day.

My Weekend

My weekend was great! I felt really good because i just got better from having a strep throat. I couldn't wait to get better. I think that I'm going to appreciate my health more. On Friday, I still felt a little sick so my parents called the school and told them that I'm going to be staying home another day. Throughout the day i started feeling much much more better. So during the evening I went to work. At work my best friend Aappa hung out with me most of the time. I seen a lot of people that i haven't seen for a whole week. After work, Aappa and I went to her house and hung out for a while. We had a lot of fun. Then, I went home and passed out. On Saturday, I had to work the evening shift again because someone messed up the schedule. The dorkiest person alive [besides me] hung out with me again. We had a good time catching up. After work was over i went to my Grandmother's house and then i had to walk her to her friend's house. After, i went home and went on the computer and just chatted away. The End

The greatest man that ever lived

He left His home in Heaven, to come to die for me,
No greater love ever given than the price at Calvary,
He was mocked, battered and beaten, then nailed to a cross,
Yet Jesus paid the ultimate price, for this world so lost,
The truth in God’s word, filled with promises from above,
Is more of my legacy that shows how we’re loved,
He sent His only Son, to die upon a tree,
To pay the dreadful price of sin and shame,
The blood shed was for you and me.

The day is drawing closer, soon Jesus comes for me,
To take me to my home above, To dwell eternally,
A place where there’s no sorrow, No dying will be there,
Glorious mansions to live in, And a banquet table prepared,
Dressed in robes of white, Walk on streets of purest gold,
And I can’t even imagine, seeing the prophets of old,
Elijiah, and Abraham, David and Moses too,
Talking with the disciples, about all they went through,
Being reunited with my loved ones, that went ahead of me,
But most of all my Jesus face is what I want to see.

But while we are waiting, before he splits the eastern sky,
Many are dying lost, Satan has blinded their eyes,
We must show the love of Christ in all we say and do,
We must know the word of God, walking in the light too,
Praying and fasting in faith, that they will quickly see,
That Jesus was not just a prophet, or a teacher,
But the one who died for you and me.

He Will Always Love You!

Wheres Anguu?

My dorky best friend, Aappa, wrote this poem about me on a desk when i didn't go to school one day. enjoy.

Wheres Anguu?

Wheres Anguu? She went to Peru, on a conoe that was blue.
She is such a foo(L) because she left her shampoo and her pimp hand too
She lost her crew and her left shoe.
Now shes stuck with her friend Pooh, that's true.
She hears a cow say "moo"
Should this continue?

Minnie

My gorgeous cousin, Minnie Agnes Cikigaq Kashatok was born on August 16, 1992. May she rest in peace. I call her "MinniBear". She was beautiful inside and out. She was my best friend and was like a sister to me. She seen the good in everything...no matter how bad the situation was. She was the only person that i could tell anything to and knowing she wouldn't tell anyone. We grew up together and many people mistaked us as twins. A lot of people told us that we looked alike. We were really alike...but different in a way. She was into sports and i wasn't. She was really good at basketball, volleyball, and wrestling. She led her team to state a couple of times. I'd always read about her in the newspapers after every meet. Big time all star right there. Toughest girl that i knew. She had a baby boy at a young age but that didn't stop her from living life to the fullest. She was really outgoing and she had tons of friends. She made friends really easily. She had my back in anything. Whenever she came for the summer, we'd stay up late together and sneak out at night. We were inseparable whenever she was in town. We'd laugh at nothing when we're sleepy. Together, we are something else. We were complete dorks and never cared what people thought of us. We would laugh really hard all the time and it made it look like we were high. That made it even more funnier and we'd laugh even more harder.I wish i could hear her laugh again. I always thought that her laugh was cool. It was so unique and relaxing. We'd go bike riding at night with only a tee shirt on when its really cold outside just to take photos. Every time we finally heard from each other we'd try to talk "gangsta". She was tons of fun and we never ran out of stuff to talk about. When we were kids, before we had internet, we'd write letters to each other a lot. I'm very glad that i kept them. We'd draw pictures for each other and hang them in our rooms. She was one of the few teenage girls in the Kashatok family, besides me and Lois. Couple weeks before her passing, she gave herself to the Lord. She accepted Jesus Christ as her savior. She never did anything bad after. Shes our guardian angel<3. She was the most caring, loving, beautiful, amazing girl that i ever knew and no one could replace her. I love and Miss you a lot MinniBear. I can't wait for the day we see each other again. What a glorious day that will be.

Heart

One day, Roxann and I were super de duper bored! And so...even if we have tons of work to do. We started taking photos! How ironic is that?! hahaha. Yeah, anyways, the photo is of Roxann's shoe using the photobooth effects.
